Are any of you yearning for spring as much as I am? The cold, rainy weather is hanging around FOREVER, it seems. So to welcome March, I put a little spring under glass!
A few days ago, I was at The Home Depot and I spotted these beautiful blooming pink primroses. Just what I needed to bring a little spring inside the house even if the weather is not cooperating.
When I spotted the primroses, I remembered that I had purchased this gorgeous, extra large teacup and saucer at HomeGoods last year. They still have them this year because I saw them again about a month ago.
The shade of the primroses is almost the same pink of the roses on the teacup.
On the same day that I found the primroses, I picked up a bag of spring green moss to put in the bottom of this old tray that I spray painted a few years ago.
While digging around in my stash, I found this old pillow sham that I picked up at the auction a few weeks ago. It is old and faded and so soft from many washes.
And did you notice that the blue patches are almost the exact same shade of blue as in the teacup? It was meant to be, I tell ya! A perfect little under blanket for my "spring under glass" arrangement!
The glass cloche is one that I've had for several years. I found mine at Hobby Lobby during a 50% off sale on glass items. My original thought was that I would use this on our dining table as a spring arrangement.
But then I moved it over to the sofa table next to a window where the primroses would get more light.
But then I felt like I wanted to constantly see my "spring under glass" since the weather is anything BUT springlike. So over to the coffee table it went. Lucy is just going to sleep until spring truly arrives!
I just can't explain how uplifting this little arrangement is to me right now. Within it is the promise that spring isn't far away. And as for the primroses, they will stay under glass until they cease blooming. Normally I would transplant it outside, but I just happened to read the label that was stuck in the plant which said that it was treated with neonicotinoids. I avoid putting anything treated with that insecticide any where near our garden. The chemical is thought to be related to the bee colony collapse disorder so I'm not taking any chances with it. For the time being, the primroses are bringing me hope of warmer days ahead.

Such a beautiful arrangement!!! Do you take the glass cover off at anytime to give the primroses air or do you treat it like a terrarium?
Sharon Emery
this is such a sweet & uplifting article. Just right for me and makes me want an arrangement just like it to see daily.
Thank you.
Nan
Hi there Jane I have been trying to copy your lovely idea. For like 2 years I have not been able to do that. Could you measure the cup and saucer? Thanks Nan
Kim
So, do they still thrive without the air. Or do you remove the glass at night? I want to do this , but am nervous about the air or lack of
Jane Windham
The plant should survive a week or two while covered by the cloche. You could always remove the cloche at night as you mentioned. My plant eventually got mold on it so I had to discard it.

I love all kinds of flowers inside and out. The primrose and set up are very beautiful and very clever❣️ Love your ideas❣️ Where can I find simple ideas (not saying that was simple) but simply beautiful❣️❣️🤗🤗🤗🎍🎋🌺🌸🌻🌹🌷💐

I love to pick up the beautiful, little primroses at Home Depot. Recently, I purchased some for 99 cents! They really do perk up a person. I love your little primrose, teacup, in a cloche. I think I will try this.
Susan
How long will the primrose live. And does it need air?? I'm not a flower or plant person so that my be a dumb question. I would love to have one of these but I would need help knowing how to take care of it. Lol. It is beautiful

Pooh la la.....love this most beautiful spring centerpiece. One of my most favorite spring flowers is the primrose. My mother always grew them outside and they were always a sure sign of spring. But, what I love the most, is your use of the teacup with them and the exquisite cloche. Love the entire vignette...I must show this off at my garden club in the spring, may I? Bee-u-tea-ful!
Zarina Din
I love the way you put the accent on Bee-u-tee-full. That is cool.
Nancy
Soooooo beautiful! I bring them in and also have them on my patio. I live in the desert so color from flowers brings me much needed color.
Cristina
Oh, this is gorgeous! You just put a big smile on my face. Love it!

Jane this is an absolutely stunning springtime arrangement! I just had to pin it. I also learned something new about pesticides aiding in destroying the bees. I will pay closer attention to what I put into the ground as well.
Thank you so very much for joining Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Your presence really helped to make it very special. I hope you will return again and again.

A beautiful arrangement, and perfect for bringing a touch of spring in. And, I am with you...no pesticides in our garden!!

This is so sweet and definitely a joy to see especially at this time of year. Too bad about the insecticide. I wonder why they chose to use that. I need to see if our T.J. Maxx has any of those giant cups- I don't have a Home Goods. That's an adorable way to present a pretty flowering pant!
Lisa
This is so adorable! I hate that primrose is not so readily available in Texas. I think it's too hot for them here. Thanks for letting me enjoy yours.;-)
Stacey
Jane, I absolutely love cloches and yours is beautiful with the flowers inside. It's so springy and perfect for this time of year. Here in Dallas it already feels like spring so I'm ready to bring out the decorations that make it feel that way in the house.
I thank you so much for joining us at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. We are all smiling this morning at the friends we have in blog land. 😉
Shannon

I found the same dome at Hobby Lobby and same cup at Homegoods and made my own. I just had to have one when I saw yours. However, I put an African violet in mine, the like humidity so I think it will do okay. What do you think?
lynn cockrell
Your sweet spring cloche arrangement is beautiful, Jane. We have not have nearly as rough a winter as that of many others in colder, snowy regions. Nonetheless, I am really looking forward to spring's arrival!
Karen
Just beautiful! What a sight for my sore eyes!
I would love it if you stopped by my blog and joined our link party Something to Talk About!

I love that you used the primrose for this lovely cloche arrangement. I look forward to finding primrose starting to show up at the grocery store and Home Depot every year. I bought yellow this year and I have them in little pots all over the house to remind me that the snow will soon be melting and the daffodils will be blooming shortly thereafter. I will have to put one in a cloche so I can see one blooming on my island counter in the kitchen. Thank you for the inspiration, Candy

I am in love with your Spring Under Glass!....Love that fabulous cloche and then you created that wonderful arrangement of the primrose in the perfect teacup!....and what a great, great idea to use a pillow sham to complete your beautiful vignette!...Now I will be on the lookout for shams to use on tablescapes!...Thanks for presenting a great feeling of Spring to us today...makes it easier to deal with the ice and snow around here!
Ann
This is such a breath of fresh air. We are under 20 in. of snow with more ice coming tomorrow. I have been buying flowers at the grocery store to cheer me up...but this is a much better idea! Thank you for sharing and I adore your quilt pillow sham. <3

Just had 4 more inches here in Boston. Over 100feet of snow. This picture was just what I needed to see this morning!
