Ingredients

  • 2-3 apples I used Fuji
  • 3 tablespoons cinnamon
  • Cooking oil spray

Instructions

Prep the Apples:

  • Start by washing and drying the apples. You can choose any variety you like, but Fuji apples work well for their sweetness and firm texture.
    2-3 apples
  • Remove the apple cores and thinly slice the apples into even rounds. If you have an apple corer or mandoline slicer, they can be quite handy for this step.

Cinnamon Coating:

  • In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with 3 tablespoons of cinnamon. Ensure that the slices are evenly coated with the fragrant spice. The cinnamon will add a delightful flavor and aroma to your apple chips.
    3 tablespoons cinnamon

Preheat the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) for about 5 minutes. Preheating ensures that the chips cook evenly and become crispy.

Prepare for Air Frying:

  • While the air fryer is preheating, line the air fryer basket with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking oil spray to prevent sticking.
    Cooking oil spray
  • Place the cinnamon-coated apple slices in a single layer on the prepared air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding, and if necessary, fry them in batches.
  • Give the apple slices a light spray with cooking oil to help them become crispier during the cooking process. This step also adds a touch of golden color to the chips.

Air Fry:

  • Cook the apple slices at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) for approximately 13 minutes or until they have dried out and turned crispy. Keep an eye on them in the last few minutes to prevent over-browning.

Cool and Serve:

  • Once your air fryer cinnamon apple chips are ready, carefully remove them from the basket and let them cool for a few minutes. They'll continue to crisp up as they cool down.
  • Serve your homemade apple chips as a delightful and healthy snack or dessert.
