Once again, we’ve had another successful Silver Fox Tournament of Champions Golf Tournament and Party this year. This is the major fundraiser for the Lamar Civitan Club, and an event like this takes months of planning and a lot of hard work. Most of the proceeds from the party and the golf tournament are used to provide scholarships for Lamar High School students and to help fund some of the minor sports at the school.
This year’s event honored our local high school coach, J. R. Boyd, who is retiring at the end of this school year. The decorations at the entrance to the Thursday night party gave the first hint of the theme for the evening…a sports theme, of course!
And my Baked Brie with Candied Lemon Peel made an appearance again at our table, except this time I totally forgot to put the pecans on it! It’s really good either way!
In addition to all the food contributions, the event would not have been possible without the generosity of our 54 sponsors this year.
On Friday, the golf tournament was a great success. Leo and I are so proud to be a small part of such a great cause.
