We had some company at the Crossroads this past weekend. My niece Catie, her son Ethan, and her husband Ryan came to visit. This visit was a very big deal for 4 reasons:
- We had not seen each other in over 4 years.
- This was our first time to meet her husband and her son.
- Ethan saw the ocean for the very first time while he was here.
- We had a hailstorm while they were here.
Catie and her family live in Oklahoma. After a long flight, they finally arrived on Friday afternoon. After dinner, we sat around getting reacquainted with one another and getting caught up with all the family news. In this picture, Ethan is showing my mother (his great grandmother) his electronic game.
On Saturday morning, we got up early to get Catie, Ryan, and Ethan off on a day trip to Myrtle Beach. Ethan had never seen the ocean before so he was very excited. Here they are at the beach having a good time.
After their trip to the beach, they arrived back at the Crossroads in time for dinner. Here we are just sitting around.
While watching the weather report on TV, Ryan told us we were going to have hail. You see, Ryan is a meteorologist and works at the National Weather Service in Oklahoma. And sure enough, it hailed.
Golf ball size hail! I had never seen such large hailstones. We put some in the freezer to save. Come to find out, Ryan is a hail expert. We teased him and told him he brought the hail with him to South Carolina.
On Sunday we went out to lunch and then just hung around the house. Here Ethan is chasing bubbles in our yard.
Don’t you just love it when a child enjoys the simple things? On the ground are blossoms from the dogwood trees that the storm blew off.
Monday arrived way too soon. Here they are before leaving.
What a wonderful time we all had. Sure hope we don’t have to wait so long to see each other again.
